A Lancashire restaurant manager has responded to a ‘toxic’ Tripadvisor reviewer who called his staff ‘rude arrogant, totally deceived’.
The family-run Lorenzo’s Restaurant and Bar is in the top 10 restaurants in Preston according to customer ratings on Tripadvisor’s public review site.
But a reviewer left a long tirade which the Freckleton site boss took to task, our sister site reports Live throws.

Lorenzo’s has an overall rating of 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor and of its 349 reviews, only 24 customers rated it as “very good”.
Known as an award-winning Italian restaurant in Preston, it serves a range of dishes such as Gnocchi San Felice (£6.90/£10.90) and Arrabbiata Pizza (£10.90) and large plates including Rib-Eye Steak (£21.90) and Chicken Alla Mafiosa (£15.90).
Recent guests have praised Lorenzos for the “outstanding experience” it provides and its “great value meals.”
A client named Ciara visited Lorenzos two weeks ago and said it was an “exceptional experience”.
Ciara said: “Fantastic food with very friendly staff. Gem of a restaurant in Freckleton. Consistent experience after several visits, 10/10”
A second customer named Mark S said he had a ‘great evening meal’ in October and added: ‘We ate here on Friday night after a few aperitifs at The Vestry. The food was excellent, we even had dessert!! The service was also very good. We will be back.”
But outside of the list of “amazing” reviews, a guest left a one-star review for the Italian restaurant in July, to which general manager Ruggero L responded in November.
The review was left by user ‘kiptic’ and said the staff were ‘rude, arrogant, totally deceived’ before explaining that their daughter’s 16th birthday was ‘ruined’ after going out for dinner at Lorenzo’s.
“I booked this restaurant for my daughter’s 16th birthday and as everyone knows how difficult it is to organize this with the surprise spoiled,” they said. “As usual, we looked for different local restaurants that might be suitable for this. We decided to use this so-called family restaurant (sic) who would understand the importance of family morals and know what it is that to organize such an event. How wrong I was.”
The customer claimed he ‘called’ Lorenzo to let them know he would be bringing a birthday cake ‘before booking’ and added that there was ‘nothing unusual about it’. although they added that they had been told ‘whoever brought the cake would have to wear a mask’, which they felt was ‘fair enough’.
They continued: “Just before booking, I went to the restaurant with the cake to meet the most arrogant senior I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
“As soon as I opened the door I was met by a wall of rudeness who told me I couldn’t bring the cake to the restaurant even though it was quite arranged. was quite arranged.a favor even having a cake that covid guidelines said couldn’t be done..total harvest.
The client claims he was told he “should know the law of the land” and added “what a delusion of watier pumps (sic)”. They said another member of staff was a ‘wet lemon’ and the restaurant was a ‘disgrace to the community’.
The customer then said he went “over the road” to The Plow who “happily accepted the cake and assured me that my daughter would have a good meal”.
They added: “They were flabbergasted by what I told them but not surprised as it is well known that they think they are above everyone else in the area. Do not use this restaurant, take your stuff to the other beautiful places in the community. will never set foot in that door again.”
General Manager Ruggero L responded to the review on Nov. 13 and didn’t hesitate.
Ruggero wrote: “Your review shows the kind of person you are. Thankfully you won’t be coming back to the restaurant again so we don’t have to deal with such a toxic person.
“Shame on the community? Like during lockdown when we baked hundreds of loaves of bread and gave them away for free?
“You didn’t make it, so you came to the internet trying to slander and damage a small business. Hope you feel better. Sincerely, Wet Lemon.”
