Le Plateau de Montréal is getting a new beer garden this month

We can raise a glass to the sweetness of life under the trees at the new Plateau de Montréal Belle Gueule Biergarten opening May 17. Just north of Parc Laurier, the space will house a sprawling outdoor seating area and an industrial restaurant/pub that serves cold fare brewed on-site, as well as a menu curated by famed Haitian chef Paul Toussaint.

That means you can pair local craft beer with pan-Caribbean cuisine and American barbecue.

On the menu, Toussaint’s popular jerk chicken served at Montreal’s Time Out Market, accompanied by a breast sandwich, fish ceviche, homemade calzone and macaroni and cheese. Toussaint brings his expertise from the famous former restaurant Agrikol, owned by Arcade-Fire, and his own downtown restaurant, Kamùy, to serve pub food grilled to perfection.

Each dish is meant to be mixed with a microbrew on tap.

“We are delighted to partner with Chef Paul, who shares our vision of combining high-end fine dining with comfort food, paired with an exciting range of new beers, in a welcoming environment that feels like home.” said Belle Geule master brewer Jan. -Philippe Barbeau.

His creations range from German Kellerbiers (lagers brewed at cold temperatures) and Scottish lagers to less orthodox beers with ingredients like vanilla, coconut and raspberries.

“We are raising the bar with this new collaboration! Aux Quartiers Belle Gueule is the culmination of our efforts to create a space that reflects the Montreal experience!”, he declared.

The beer garden can accommodate approximately 200 people and plans to expand this summer to accommodate even more visitors looking for a true Montreal gastronomic experience.
