With the very recent news that a Henderson HDB apartment has sold for a new record high of $1.4 million, it looks like the ceiling of what people are willing to pay for HDB apartments in Singapore will once again be exceeded. .

And so, this week, we’re looking at some of the biggest HDB apartments you can find (they’re all over 1,700 square feet).

why i like it

Like many older and larger apartments, this giant apartment is not very close to an MRT station as it is about a 15 minute walk from MRT Khatib station.

That said, its immediate location is convenient as you are right across from the Wisteria Mall. It’s not the biggest mall around, but it’s got familiar favorites like Coffee Bean, KFC, and Yole, to name a few. You are also close to a playground along Yishun Green Link and park connectors that can take you to the huge Yishun Park, Pond and Safra in Yishun.

On the school side, you are also close to schools like Northland Primary, Chung Cheng High, Orchid Park Secondary and Naval Base Primary.

Lastly, the unit itself is a massive 1,765 square foot giant unit. He still has a pay lease of 69 years, which is very fair all things considered. The old layout was 5 bedrooms (it can be converted back) but now it is 4 bedrooms with 2 suites which means you have a huge living room and dining room. The unit is also quite modern, so unless you want a major overhaul, minimal renovation should be required for most people.

why i like it

First of all, it’s a giant of an apartment. This is technically a jumbo apartment of a combined 3 and 4 room HDB (so 5 bedrooms) but HDB classifies it as an executive apartment. And so, at 1,905 square feet, this will be one of the largest HDB apartments you can find. It is also well renovated, so you can keep renovation costs as low as possible.

The location is pretty stellar too. You are within walking distance of the Woodlands MRT station, which is an interchange consisting of the North-South line and the Thomson East Coast line. Of course, Causeway Point is here too, along with the Woodlands Civic Center and the brand new Woods Square.

In terms of immediate amenities, you Fu Shan Garden is right next door, with open spaces and a variety of playgrounds. You are also close to Woodlands North Plaza where you will find a giant supermarket, KFC and the very popular McDonald’s.

why i like it

This Jumbo Apartment in Nee Soon Central View is right next to Ryan’s Choiceso I won’t go over the same location attributes here.

The unit itself is exactly the same size, with a layout of 4 bedrooms and 2 common bedrooms with a shared bathroom. You can really feel the luxury of the space available here, with the large L-shaped sofa which can usually feel too oversized for other homes, seeming perfectly suited here.

why i like it

This executive maisonette in Potong Pasir is very well sized at 1,732 square feet. While most people considering this would probably need to factor in a large renovation budget, you’re in a pretty convenient place to start.

For one, you are very close to Sungei Kallang (although there is no river view from your unit) that you can actually walk to Kallang Riverside Park and Kallang Basin him -same. Getting to Potong Pasir MRT station is also about a 9 minute walk, and from there you have a whole hive of activity here. You have shops and restaurants at Poiz Centre, The Venue Shoppes, as well as old-school classics along Tai Thong Crescent (the next Woodleigh Mall will also be a train stop away).

Road connectivity here is also excellent, as the PIE and CTE are both a stone’s throw away.

why i like it

Starting with the cons, this executive apartment is not the closest to an MRT station. Marsiling MRT station is about a 12 minute walk away, and you can also walk to Woodlands MRT station although it is a bit further at about a 15 minute walk. This is also where you’ll find Causeway Point, which is basically the hub of Woodlands.

On top of that, Woodlands Town Park East is right on your doorstep, and if you travel to JB a lot, the Woodlands Checkpoint is also close by. Other than that it’s hard to really describe the place as an image of convenience, although you do have a few coffeeshops nearby and a Sheng Siong about an 8 minute walk away.

This unit is still very generously sized at 1,700 square feet (even though it’s the smallest on this list). It’s all still fairly well laid out too, so if the design is to your style, you can consider it move-in ready.
